Each year, a diverse cohort of institutional leaders, social entrepreneurs, professionals, writers, farmers, teachers, artists, and students comes together to read, interpret, and critically examine Gandhi’s Hind Swaraj. Written in 1909 during Gandhi’s voyage from Britain to South Africa, the text stands as a profound critique of modern civilization and a bold articulation of an alternative vision for human progress, self-rule, and social transformation.
More than a reading programme, Hind Swaraj 2026–27 creates a reflective space for dialogue across disciplines, experiences, and generations. Participants engage with enduring questions on development, technology, sustainability, governance, education, community, and the meaning of a good society—issues that remain as relevant today as they were over a century ago.
